BREAKING NEWS!!!

Shadow, the Dog with Nine lives....
Shadow,  beloved pet of the Laubscher family

Shadow, a miniature Schnauzer from Goodyear, AZ, cheated death once again on August 14 when he had a narrow escape after accidentally being locked in a car for 4 hours.

The owners were on a visit to Lake Tahoe , and their two sons were left in charge of Shadow.

De Wet, the eldest, reported that he was painting his car until 5 am on Sunday morning, when he went to bed, unawares of the fact that Shadow had sneaked into his car, and were now locked inside.
The car was outside on the driveway, where temperatures reach a scorching 114 degrees F in Phoenix this time of the year.
The "ongoing project"

As "luck" would have it, De Wet did not sleep until noon that day, as he usually did after an all night project like that. He awoke at 9 am and went outside to look at the car in the sunlight.

This is when he saw poor Shadow, soaking wet and disoriented, inside the car.

He quickly gave the dog two bowls of water, which he gulped down instantly. He was going to give him a third bowl, but De Wet said that he was afraid that the dog would @#$%^  explode.

Shadow is fine now, but this reporter is convinced that he would not have survived another hour or two in this heat.
This was Shadow's third brush with death in his lifetime.....

Shadow, being pampered after his ordeal.

The first time was when he was still a tiny puppy, just after his owners got him. Shadow was sleeping on the floor in front of the couch, when Strydom, the younger brother, rolled off the couch and fell on him. The poor dog dragged his back legs and had trouble breathing for two days, but made a miraculous recovery just when the owners decided to take him to the vet to be put out of his misery.

The second time was a close encounter with a coyote, and is reported here .

Is this the dog with nine lives? Or is he just lucky? When will his luck run out? We will have to wait and see...
